Built for spaces the air conditioning cannot reach

The 4.3m sits in the middle of the HVLS range and is the fan most small warehouses and machinery sheds end up choosing. It clears 450m² of open floor from a single mounting point, which usually means one fan where you would otherwise hang six or eight high-speed drum fans and still have hot corners.

Five aerofoil blades turn between 20 and 90 rpm. At the top of that range the fan pushes a column of air down to the floor and out along it, so the moving air reaches people at working height rather than swirling near the roof. The perceived temperature drop is typically 3 to 6 degrees, and because it is air movement rather than refrigeration, it keeps working with the roller doors open.

Direct drive, so there is nothing to service

The motor is a permanent magnet synchronous unit driving the blades directly. No gearbox, which means no oil changes, no gear wear and no oil to drip onto stock below. It draws 750W at full speed, and considerably less at the lower speeds most sites settle on.

The blades are aluminium-magnesium alloy, not steel, so damp sheds and wash-down areas do not corrode them. At 46kg it is one of the lighter fans in the range, which keeps the mounting simple, though the mounting point still gets checked as part of the quote.

Quiet enough for a gym or a hall

38dB measured at the fan. That is quiet enough for a fitness studio, a school hall or a workshop where people need to hear each other, and it is one of the practical reasons large slow fans have replaced banks of small ones in occupied spaces.

How installation works

The fan is hardwired to its variable frequency controller and bolted to structural steel or concrete, so it must go in through a licensed electrical contractor. The kit includes mounting hardware for concrete, I-beam or square steel, and a safety cable that carries the fan independently of the main bracket.

We quote the fan and the installation together. The fan is supplied by Festoon House as an authorised Down Under Fans reseller, and installed by our own licensed electricians across New South Wales. Mount height for this size is 3 to 5.5m from the floor to the fan, and the extension rod is specified once we know your roof height.

The 5-year warranty requires certified installation and is void if the fan is later relocated, so it is worth getting the position right the first time. Tell us the roof height, the floor area and what is already up there, and we will mark up where it should go.
