
What an industrial ceiling fan costs
Here are the published prices for every fan in both ranges, in AUD, GST inclusive. These are the fan prices only. Installation and freight are quoted separately, and the next sections explain why.

A few things worth noticing in those numbers. The price band across the entire HVLS range, from 380 square metres of coverage to 1,500, is a little over $1,000. The 7.3m fan, the largest in the range, costs $1,080 more than the smallest. That ratio holds because the fan is not the expensive part of most projects, the mounting and installation are, which is exactly why the two are quoted separately.
Both ranges run quietly at 38dB, which matters in halls, gyms and worship spaces where speech needs to carry. The HVLS fans are PMSM direct drive with variable speed control across five and six blade configurations. The commercial fans are six blade, IP55 rated, and suit mounting heights from 2.5 to 5 metres, which puts them in workshops, showrooms and smaller halls where a 6 metre plus HVLS unit is more fan than the building needs.
If you are comparing quotes, ask the other supplier to state the fan-only figure first. With these numbers on the table you will know quickly whether the rest of their quote is equipment or margin.
Why the price varies across the range
Diameter is the main driver, and it is worth understanding what the diameter actually buys you.
The 3.7m HVLS moves 5,000 m³/min of air on a 370W motor and covers 380 m². Step up to the 7.3m and you get 13,000 m³/min covering 1,500 m² on 1,100W. The motor power has not even tripled, but the covered area has roughly quadrupled. Airflow scales with blade area, and blade area scales with the square of the diameter, so each extra metre of span does a disproportionate amount of work. That is why the price curve across the range is so shallow, and why upsizing is often better value than adding a second smaller fan.
Coverage is the figure to hold onto when you budget. A $5,990 fan covers 380 m², which works out to roughly $16 per square metre of floor. The $7,070 fan covers 1,500 m², closer to $5 per square metre. For a large shed or hall, the bigger diameter almost always wins on cost per area covered, provided the mounting height suits it. The larger fans in the range need 5 metres or more of clearance, so a low ceiling can force the smaller diameter regardless of the maths.
The other variable is the structure. A 7.3m fan with six blades is a substantial rotating mass, and the mount has to carry it safely for decades. That is an installation cost rather than a fan cost, but it correlates with diameter, and it is part of why the two are never priced as one number.
What is not in the fan price
Installation is quoted separately. A ceiling fan at this scale mounts to structural steel or concrete and is hardwired to its own variable speed controller. Timber structures get an engineered mount specified per building after a site check. The cost depends on three things we cannot see from a website: the mount type, the working height, and the site access. A fan going onto exposed steel at 6 metres in an open shed is a different job from the same fan going into a building that needs scaffolding and a scaffold around services. Quoting install as a single number would mean padding every quote to cover the worst case, so we do not do it. The industrial fan installation page explains how the site check and quote work. Installation is carried out by a licensed electrical contractor, and certified installation is what keeps the 5-year warranty valid for its full term.
Freight is quoted separately too. These fans ship in crates weighing between 38kg and 111kg. That is not something a parcel network collects, and freight on a crate that size varies a lot depending on where it is going. Fans ship from stock in our New South Wales warehouse, and once we have a delivery address we can quote the freight properly rather than guessing.
Neither of these is a hidden cost. They are variable costs, and they get quoted once we know the building.
Why most suppliers will not publish a price
Because the installed price genuinely varies, and a quote form is a lead capture device. It is easier to get you on the phone than to publish a number.
The honest version of the argument for quoting is that installation is variable, and it is. But the equipment cost is knowable, and there is no good reason to hide it. If you are a facilities manager, a school business manager or a committee member trying to get a project onto a budget, you can do that with published prices before anyone raises a quote. A budget holder who knows the fan is $6,300 can plan around that figure and treat the install as a separate line item to be confirmed.
We publish the numbers because the conversation is more useful once both sides know what the equipment costs.
Budgeting for a whole building
Start with the coverage figures. A warehouse floor of 1,400 m² sits inside the coverage of a single 7.3m HVLS fan. The same floor split into two work zones might suit two 5m fans at 500 m² each, with the remainder handled by positioning or a smaller unit. A workshop of 200 m² is squarely in commercial territory, where a 3m commercial fan covers 210 m² for $3,140, and mounting heights between 2.5 and 5 metres make it a practical fit under a lower roof.
Two things refine the estimate. Mounting height rules some diameters in or out, since the larger fans need 5 metres or more of clearance. And in winter, running the fan in reverse at low speed pushes warm air that collects at the roof back down to floor level, which cuts heating cost across the whole covered area, not just the zone under the fan.
